Just a quick post to say that I have been working on a team e-lottery website, this is really all about seo and traffic techniques. Obviously there's a great deal of competition to find favour in the organic google search and getting our euromillions, uk lotto and spanish syndicate elottery website is going to take a little while.

Blogging is a great way of generating traffic, and with great tools like blogger which have blogs indexed by google literally within minutes, it's an important thing to do.

Building an Online Network Marketing Business is in many ways like building any online business. It takes certain skills, a level of motivation and probably most important of all, a willingness to learn and to be ‘coachable’.

In my time building mlm businesses here are the 7 secrets that have been shared with me by some of the most successful online network marketers out there:

1. Have a VERY Strong Reason.
You’ll hear this referred to as ‘the dream’, ‘your goal’ and so on. The whole point of this is that you are going to need something to drive you on, even when things don’t seem like they’re working. Having a nice car is one thing, but as we all know, we can easily settle for less and give up. Get emotionally attached to your goal, make it something you can see, believe and feel strongly about. Amongst the easiest ‘emotional goals’ you can focus on are those involving your children and your immediate family. Imagine being able to provide that dream for your family. Visualise it and see it in your minds eye as if you have already have it, feel it, believe it, get attached to it.

2. Use a ‘System’ to Generate Your Own Leads and Extra Cash
Don’t make the mistake of buying leads. There are lots of systems out there designed to allow you to generate your own leads for free. The systems known as ‘funded proposals’ are designed to do two things: Provide you with an endless stream of new leads and Put money in your pocket. I cannot endorse the funded proposal system enough. Network Marketers suffer two problems: not enough leads and running out of money. The funded proposal solves both of these problems.

3. Promote YOU First.
People join you in business, mostly they don’t really join you in business for the products. People love to follow leaders and will join you in business for your leadership and the relationship they can build with you. By promoting You Inc. it maybe that you can lead your team to opportunities when things may have gone wrong in your existing company. (This doesn’t sound too positive but it is a reality and it does happen)

4. Focus on Attracting Experienced Network Marketers.
This is what we might call a ‘no brainer!’ Experienced network marketers already understand the principles of mlm, they already understand the power of leverage and duplication and most importantly they are usually educated and positive and are a lot easier to work with. By focusing on attracting experienced mlmers you are not going to go through the whole pyramid, scam argument and all that other negative, time wasting blah blah stuff.

5. Take the Time to Build Relationships with Your Leads
Provide value, care about them, develop bonds, share your skills and experiences. Listen to their challenges and issues, empathise, understand and where appropriate provide solutions. Always remember: It’s the little things that make a BIG difference, one tiny act of kindness can go a VERY long way.

6. If You Can Help - HELP!
Support the network marketing industry, support your fellow network marketers. It really doesn’t matter which company they are with, whether they are cross line, upline, downline or whatever. Always help out where you can. Remember a rising tide will raise all ships. If you can suggest a solution to a problem, suggest it, If you know of a resource that will help someone, send them to it. What goes around comes around. What we give out is what we get back.

7. LEARN Stuff Fom People That Have Already Done It
You simply must be ‘Coachable’ It makes no sense to try and figure everything out on your own and effectively rewrite the book. there are thousands of successful online network marketers to learn from and they are giving giving giving! Find someone you can relate to and learn from them. Look for a mentor and become a student. ASK For Help!

I'm in the throws of writing a sales letter at the moment, man, it's not a simple as I thought it might be!

This sales letter is to promote an ebook that some of my friends and I have all contributed to, the book goes into detail about couple of businesses and some systems and techniques for building multiple passive income streams... anyway, enough of that, I'll let you know when it's ready, you might want to get your hands on a copy ;-)

The Key to Rapid Growth in Network Marketing or MLM is Duplication.

Network Marketing or MLM businesses are effectively organisations or networks of people who are all building the same business. It is very similar in principle to the ‘franchise’ principle. That is to say that in franchising, the franchisor develops a business model, be it product or service based, and he (or she) figures out how to make it work, they put in place a ‘system’ or ‘success formula’ that a franchisee is able to duplicate or copy, therefore guaranteeing success. At least, that’s the principle. We all know there are many other factors which come into play in the franchised business arena such as the requirement for a degree of business acumen, financial planning, management and of course, people skills.

Network Marketing or Franchise

Network marketing or MLM is similar, in that a business model is developed, either a product or a service and a compensation plan is put together for the business owners. The chief differences between franchising and network marketing or MLM are:

The network marketing business owner not only has products and services which they can promote and sell, they also have the ability to set up other network marketing business owners.
Depending on the compensation plan, the business owner will also have the ability to make revenue from the efforts of his ‘sponsored’ network marketing business owners. That is, if those they sponsor go on to sponsor other business owners, the original network marketer will usually benefit.
In the MLM business, start up costs are generally much, much lower. The franchise is usually a relatively expensive business to start as a franchisee, not only that, the franchisee does not have the ability to set up other franchisees.

Caveats

There are indeed a few caveats, each Network Marketing Business is different, they are governed by rules and regulations, each will have their own compensation plan. All of these factors should be considered before deciding or committing to any opportunity.

A Common Trait

There is a common trait which runs through all massively and even moderately successful Network Marketers, they have all applied this very simple principle. The principle they have applied is that of ‘duplication’. Duplication is an absolute corner stone of success in Network Marketing and MLM. I will even go so far as to say that if the network marketing business does not posses the ability to duplicate their efforts, business is doomed to failure!

Your Success Depends on This

Fortunately, duplication is one of the first principles that any successful leader in the MLM industry will teach to their organisation. After all, another key success principle in MLM is that in order to succeed, you absolutely must help others to succeed first.

A Working Example

I would like to share a working example of duplication in action. Any active network marketing business owner will be faced with this at some point in their career, so let set the scene.

The network marketer contacts one of their prospects to discuss the idea of the prospect becoming a network marketing business owner, the prospect responds with “Yes, that sounds great, but, are you making any money?”

How should the network marketer respond to this question?

You will notice that we don’t know if the network marketer in this example is incredibly successful or if they are brand new to the business. In either case, the response is critical, and in either case it should be the same. You see, we teach by doing. In MLM people will need to be able to duplicate your efforts.

So, the wrong response would be “Yes, I’m making xxx thousand a month and it’s great, you should look at it!” Why is this wrong? Quite simply, it cannot be duplicated. The new network marketer will not be able to say this to their prospects, at least not honestly.

The correct response would be “My upline team are incredibly successful, they have developed large organisations and we are working together to find more like minded people to work with” Why is this correct? Again, very simple, it can easily be duplicated! The new network marketer can use this exact same technique in their business.

This is just one working example, there are many, many situations where duplication and the ability to duplicate need to be considered. The principle of duplication must be taught very early on in the network marketing business owner’s career if they are to succeed and achieve and experience rapid growth in their organisation

In Summary

The key to success in network marketing and MLM is duplication, it is also in the ability to teach duplication. Teaching this principle early on will help your organisation grow and duplicate rapidly. Helping others to become successful in this technique is a cornerstone of building large network marketing organisations.

After quite a crazy weekend, I thought I’d jump straight back in this morning with a blog post. I say crazy because my brother, in all his wisdom, asked me over to his place to watch the Calzaghe, Roy Jones Jnr. fight on Saturday night.. well as it turned out it was very early Sunday morning! Paul told me the fight was due to start at 2.15am Sunday Morning… Heh! it didn’t get started until 4.30am and I rolled home to bed at something just before 6am. I’m just glad he won!! Anyway, onto today’s post…

I’ve had some great results from Downline Builder Direct and can happily recommend it as a service.

The New Age of Network Marketing, MLM and Downline Building Systems

Are you like me?

I became familiar with the principles of Network Marketing and MLM back in 1994.

I was introduced to a large MLM company by my friend Robin one evening around at somebody’s house.

I was blown away by the content of Robin’s presentation, the dreams he built, the network building diagram and compensation plan. I mean I was totally awe struck, I had never seen anything like this before and I really thought that was it, my ticket to freedom… all I had to do was find half a dozen buddies who saw what I saw, and that was it, I’d be made for life.

Well, if you are like me you can imagine what happens next.

My friends don’t get as excited as me, I come back to Earth with a bump and I end up wondering if there is something wrong with me or something wrong with the business I was so excited about. Fortunately, my upline, Robin, is a smart fellow, he’s got me using ‘the system’. It’s a system of books, tapes, meetings and functions. This system keeps me in the business, builds my confidence and belief and provides tools to help me build and train my downline. It empowers me to put on a suit and drive around the country late at night showing the business plan to people, looking for the one’s that see what I see.

I soon realize that this is no ‘get rich quick’ scheme and actually, there’s some hard work involved.

Wordpress on my own host

I'm in the throws of setting up a Wordpress blog on my own hosting account, I was pretty surprised how easy this was actually! One minor database hiccup and the rest was a doddle.
I think developing the right look and feel will be the part that actually takes up most time.

Not sure yet, but that may become my blogging software of choice.. One thng I did find very easy to set up was the Tweet My Blog plugin by John Merrick and Soren Jordansen, it's a nifty plugin that will post a 'tweet' to twitter each time you update the blog, therefore providing viral traffic to your blog, Not only that, the cool thing is you can make some money at it too!

Is There Really a Free MLM Downline Building System?

There are many downline building systems to choose from out there. I have used several, and, I'll be perfectly frank and honest with you, they are NOT all the same thing.

You see, when building any MLM business, the most important asset you have, apart from an upline who believes in you, is your list. In today's 'new age' of MLM that list is actually your optin list, that's your list of subscribers who optin to get information from you about opportunities and systems to help them build their MLM business. These optin’s, leads, people, individuals, however you like to refer to them have joined your list and probably your MLM downline system through using that MLM downline system.

So how do you choose which MLM Downline System to use?

Here are some very important questions you should ask yourself before you make that decision:

1. Do your optins actually join YOUR list?

OK, so you found an amazing, 100% Free MLM downline building system that produces leads and downlines for you. Did those leads actually join your list? I've seen this, you spend hours of hardwork in the Traffic Exchanges and List-Builders promoting this system that supposedly has evrything... It's free, it provides lead capture pages, video, personalised to you, follow-up messages to send, everything, and great, you have leads appearing in your back office. Now all you want to do is broadcast a message to them. Can you do it? Actually in some scenario's, No, you can't, but guess what, the system owners can and, they do!

2. Who controls the messages sent out to your leads?

You really ought to be using one of the auto responders like aweber or get response to manage your list optins and control what messages are sent out to them. I have seen, and worked with, some MLM downline systems which purport to have those leads available to you, which they are, but they are not in your auto responder, they're in someone elses and you have no control over what opportunities, offers and, importantly, links that are sent out to those individuals.

Successful New Age MLM downline builders all agree, have your own auto responder, have your own optin list, write your own series of follow up emails that you can control.

3. Can you obtain support and training from your upline?

In order to be successful in MLM, you are going to need training and support, period! It's just the way it is. With some of the mlm downline systems out there, which I have worked with, I contacted my sponsor by email, the email that he joined with. It took me three weeks to get even a reply and for him to say, actually I don't know what I'm doing, I'm new and No, I don't know anything about all those emails I've been sending you about 'our fantastic team'. Now this one is the straw tht broke the camels back for me, I'm a bit old school, I KNOW that you need to have the help and support of an upline team to be successful in MLM. If that downline building system does not encourage communication and training for it's team members, it has a hole in it.

4. Are you put under undue pressure to part with your money?

Some free mlm downline systems suggest they can deliver 10's and even 20's of streams of 'passive income', great! Some of those streams of income are expensive to get started and, in fact, they maybe prohibitively expensive, particularly for the newcomer. The newcomer has put in lots of work and is seeing some success with his downline growing, a new stream of income is announced and unless the newcomer signs up within a very short timescale it's going to be hard luck, your downline will join around you.

5. You want to stop using that system, what happens to your leads?

I built a list in a system I shouldn't have done, other people were contacting my leads with their own offers and programs, this is just plain wrong! There is only one thing to do when this happens, quit that system and start to build your own list with an mlm downline system that builds YOUR list, not someone elses.

So, to conclude, I know how exciting it can be to discover a 100% Free MLM downline building system, I really do! But, before you go ahead and take out your wallet and credit card, consider your options very carefully. If the answer to some of the questions I have raised above is less than positive or they ring a bell, be very careful.

Building an MLM downline, if you are familiar with the MLM business, obviously includes providing training for your downline team members.
That's the great thing about the MLM business, in order to be successful, you absolutely must help your downline members to succeed, that's not just great, actually that's an amazing principle to build your successful business on.

Social Networking or Social Marketing?

Afternoon!
I sat in on one of the e-lottery affiliate conferences lastnight, it's the first one I have actually attended *blush*!
However, it was brialliant... The meeting was opened by Malcolm Horsey with an explanation of the game and business opportunity, great for new prospects and nice to hear how Malcolm puts everything in a very simple way... like he said, the business of E-Lottery is a 'no brainer'.

There was a second session by Paul e Watts, he talked about using squeeze pages, developing traffic and using an aweber auto-responder to build an opt-in mailing list.
Paul is one of the most respected E-Lottery Affiliates and actually a real nice guy. His delivery of the content was fantastic, he was a real joy to listen to.

This session was especially cool because I realised that it's everything that Dave (my upline) and I and several of the team have been doing anyway.

Project Word An Exciting Concept

I had a very interesting email from Jamie and Sophia over at Project Word this morning.
I must say I am impressed! These guys have got together after graduating university to create an online dictionary.

Dictionary? I hear you say... well, it's a dictionary with a twist :-)
Jamie and Sophia put it like this:

"Simply choose keywords that are relevant to your business then define them as a link to your website. Each keyword that is added becomes a part of our business dictionary and your website becomes exclusive to that keyword. The keywords you define give potential customers an insight into what products/services you offer, therefore providing a low cost form of targeted marketing."

What you are doing is purchasing a keyword for a measly £1.00 and redefining it with a link to your own website. A pretty neat idea, I think you'll agree.

This is obviously appealing to many sectors, particularly where keywords are of a premium value, take webdesign for example, already we see many variants.. webdesignnewcastle etc.

Of course I immediately asked Jamie about his ongoing promotions and how he intends to take this forwards, I believe he is researching several methods, we will have to wait and see!

Are you Super Surfing Yet?

What's Super Surfing Ian?
Good question :-) If you are familiar with Traffic Exchanges, there are hundreds of them out there, then you'll understand the concept of surfing for credits. For those of you not so familiar, the concept is basically, I'll look at your website if you'll look at mine.
Now that's great, but, there is a way of leveraging your time whilst you 'surf for credits'. You see each traffic exchange basically uses a timer, that is to say that you can't just flick through these websites or pages, you have to look at one for usually 10 seconds or so, that's fine, but while you are waiting for the timer what do you do?
I discovered pretty early on that it makes sense to surf several traffic exchanges at the same time, meaning that while I wait those 10 seconds at each exchange I can surf another... pretty cool!

What is even more cool is that 5 of the top traffic exchange owners realise this, not only that, they endorse it too. How do I know? Well, they reward us extra credits for doing so!

I have to confess, when I first heard the word squidoo a couple of months ago, I had absolutely no idea what it was, not a clue...
However, after reading a few ebooks and pdf's I've picked up on my travels, as we inevitably do, I have come to realise it's actually quite a useful tool.

I've made a point of posting my various articles there for several reasons, naturally we want to get our links out all over the place to drive traffic to our various places on the net and we are looking to increase our page rank.

Working Traffic Exchanges Effectively

As Internet Marketers we soon realise that in order to become successful, we need to develop a traffic system which helps us get our pages in front of as many eyes as possible.

A 'Traffic Exchange' is very simply a place on the internet where you can go and do exactly that, exchange traffic with other traffic exchange users. It is a basic agreement between the users of traffic exchanges which says 'If I look at your website, you look at mine.

The Traffic Exchange owners, of which there are many, have allowed the automation and regulation of this basic agreement between 'surfers'.

There are many ways in which you can learn about traffic exchanges and how to use them successfully and effectively. In my own experience, it has been to jump in and start using them, you very quickly pick up a feel for each exchange and how it works, coupled with this are the emails which are sent out to you by each traffic exchange owner. These emails may at first glance seem a little pointless, but, if you actually take the time to read them, there is a deep mine of information within them.

I'll now go into a few tips and ideas on how best to get results from traffic exchanges.

1. Whichever traffic exchange you use, don't promote your 'affiliate link', always use a squeeze or splash page. If you are not sure what one of these is, then make it your business to find out! However, in essence a squeeze page contains a 'strong or grabbing headline', it lists several benefits, it contains a 'call to action' and is generally aesthetically pleasing. Bear in mind, most traffic exchange users are there to get traffic to their web pages, your squeeze page needs to grab their attention, effectively halting their surf, and getting them to perform the action you have called for. This needs to be something that can generally be completed in seconds. Lets get this absolutely straight people WILL NOT stop and read an entire affiliate sign up page, you are wasting your time if you think they are going to!

2. Participate in each traffic exchange. On first look, many traffic exchanges seem very similar, but, when you take the time to study each one and get 'under the bonnet' of each, you will find it is more than just the pleasing graphics and catchy surf bars that are different. Each successful traffic exchange has something going for it that is a little unique and different. You will also begin to notice that various traffic exchanges work in teams. In fact, the whole traffic exchange community is extremely close knit, the owners of each exchange work with each other, support each other and consequently grow each other.
Some of the unique things you will find are the downline builder over at Visit Maniac (owned by Sean Supplee), The competitions run by Traffic Bunnies, owned by Cindy Battye, The rewards for surfing 50 pages in 5 days out of 7 at Advertising Know How, owned by Robert Puddy.
Take the time to get to know each exchange and it's unique benefits, it will help you get better results and even refer people to them, which will result in more traffic for you!

3. I have learned this from Soren Jordansen of Dagon Surf. DON'T dilute your surfing efforts by surfing too many exchanges at once. Ideally you should concentrate on 5 or 6 traffic exchanges to surf at once. How you choose which to use would probably be dictated by 'what's hot' and 'what's not'. There are many resources online to enable you to gather information about this but, you will find by working on your participation with each exchange, it will become obvious which ones you should be concentrating on. Personally I look for things like the 'Super Surf' option with 5 participating exchanges offering you a 10% increase in credits, or, where through participation, you have managed to get an 'upgraded membership' which will help you get a better surf ratio, perhaps 1:1 instead of the usual 2 or 3:1.

4. Check out the forums. one very useful forum for me has been the net marketing forum. This forum is moderated by Jon Olsen, owner of I Love Hits. This particular forum is where many of the bigger traffic exchange owners 'hang out' and discuss. Personally I met Sean Supplee here and managed to strike up a very good relationship, which is proving very fruitful, I was also able to find out about the launch of Traffic Gold Rush, one of the newest exchanges, but, which signed up 2300 users in less than 48 hours, not bad!

5. Develop a surfing Regime. Based on your results and knowledge, develop a surfing strategy optimised for results and of course, fun! It really must be fun because clicking for an hour or two a day can begin to become a little tedious. By participating, building your knowledge of traffic exchanges and using the right pages within them, it can be extremely satisfying and exciting to say the least.

Lastly, and really this is important, set your goals, believe in yourself and fine tune as you go, it's a fun, exciting and fascinated journey which will reward you greatly!

James Grandstaff’s Instant MLM Squeeze Pages, Stone Evans Plug In Profits, VWD and You

This article describes how James Gandstaff’s Instant MLM Squeeze Pages combines with any MLM or affiliate program to develop your internet marketing business.

It can be pretty confusing and overwhelming to say the least when you embark on the business of Internet Marketing, I have certainly found that to be so, and I’m supposed to know what I’m doing

It gives you a choice “Do you already have an MLM program to work with?” or “No, I don’t have an MLM business to work with”

Eventually, the lead ends up on a list, which is presented to you inside James’ Squeeze Page Control Panel. The lead is yours to keep and you can do what you like with it. James encourages you to drop an email to them as ‘good practice’.

You will also find in the control panel a ‘tracking system’. One of the points James makes is that in order to fine tune and optimize your squeeze page traffic, you are going to need to track where your hits are coming from. You guessed it, James has incorporated this too. Through adding a simple tracking tag to the end of your squeeze page URL you can actually see where your hits are coming from. James uses Pro Tracker Plus to manage this.

So, on summary, we have Squeeze Pages, Rebranded PDF’s, A Free Traffic System, A list building system and tracking system all in one place, this sytem is not only promoting Instant MLM Squeeze Pages, it promotes all of the traffic and list building programs and your main MLM business.

A few notes…

Traffic Swarm includes a downline builder for Plug In Profits, you simply enter your Plug In Profits ID into the system, anyone joining traffic swarm under you will be presented with your plug in profits sign up link. This is great news as anyone joining Instant MLM Squeeze Pages under you will also want to join Traffic Swarm and have the same opportunity.

On to Plug In Profits

PIPS as it has become known, is a fantastic system in itself. You do need to have a host 4 profit account in order to join, but essentially plug in profits is free. When signing up for plug in profits you are asked for you ID’s in various programs such as Success University, Empowerism etc. If you don’t have these, you can join, if you don’t want to join, you don’t have to, quite simply you would enter your uplines ID’s instead and they will benefit in those programs instead of you.

Once you are all signed up, a full website is put together with all the sign up pages, auto responders and everything you need to be successful. You also embark on Stone’s 30 day education program which is invaluable to anybody new to Internet Marketing. Stone goes into detail about Blogging, Article Writing, Search engine optimization etc, naturally he promotes his own coop system, SEO and article submission service etc, but these again, are all choices.

Geeze! It's so easy to get distracted

A you've probably figured out I've been working on James Grandstaff's Instant MLM Squeeze Pages for a while now... why? Because ultimately it's building my list, and that's all you hear in the Internet Marketing world isn't it... "The money is in the list", "Build a big list" .
Anyway, while you work James' system in the traffic exchanges (I'm not into spending shed loads of money on traffic) it is really easy to get distracted and think WOW, look at that, the next big thing, maybe this will work faster... I mean there's hundreds, thousands of systems out there and they can really take up your time!
I have taken away a couple of key and important facts from these experiences and some of the successful people I have met on my journey.

1. Build your own brand.
2. Build your own list.

I have found it so easy to forget, all the tools I need to accomplish both of these goals I already have!
So the order of the day: Don't get distracted, work your system!

I've been at it for almost a month now, net marketing that is, and everything seems to be conspiring in my favour! How refreshing.

Some of the e-lottery leaders say keep doing the things that make the business work for a month and then after a month, look back and see what happened, well I've done that... I suddenly find I have players and affiliates. That's great :-) A few events have helped such as these euro millions roll overs, the big one being this weekend where 100 million has to be won. Everyone is talking about it and I suddenly realised by telling someone about my website (www.stacktheodds.net) address, they can increase their chances of sharing in a jackpot by 3600%! It seems ridiculously easy, but it works :-)

I have had 40 new prospects turn up in my e-lottery back office, that's pretty cool because I can email all of those people too and drive clicks to my pages.. They've come from telling people about Grab-A-Grand, their chance to guess 5 of the UK lotto numbers and pocket themselves a grand for free, real simple stuff!

I have also had about 60 leads turn up from the various other bits and pieces I've been upto like James Grandstaff's Instant MLM Squeeze Pages and Plug In Profits... that's just great and I know it's only a numbers game and lots of clicking, I can do that, easy peasy!

I've managed to get to know a couple of Traffic Exchange owners and looked at ways of how best to use those traffic exchanges, that's also great :-)

So I guess it's been a successful month in Internet Marketing and everything is moving forwards.

I have to thank Dave for pointing me in the right direction, giving me the freedom to go try stuff out and hauling me up when I was headed off in the wrong direction, he's a good guy and completely different to the guy I knew 10 years ago.

I'm working on a document with Gordon, one of Dave's other business associates at the moment, it's going to help people set up their squeeze pages and PIP sites , the least I could do I guess. He doesn't want people to make the same mistakes we did, totally understandable... the first month of Internet Marketing can be quite overwhelming... but hey, I'm going to stay focused and keep doing all this stuff that works and then next month we'll have another look back!

Do traffic exchanges work?

The answer to the question is YES, they do work.
Traffic exchanges do exactly what they say on the tin, they exchange traffic!

I have been running with about 10 of them, you'll find links to them over on the right hand side of this page. In the last 48 hours I have managed to generate over 700 hits on my squeeze pages with great results.
How much did using these traffic exchanges cost me? The truth is not a red cent, not a penny, they are free!

Using a squeeze page in traffic exchanges comes highly recommended, they focus the attention of the surfer and offer something of high perceived value to them (such as a free eBook, written by an expert in the field)

Is the traffic in traffic exchanges of high quality? well, when you think about it, people using traffic exchanges are after one thing, and one thing only! traffic!, so squeeze pages have to grab the attention of that person. Perhaps the best thing to offer on the squeeze page is a way of generating more traffic!

So the answer to that question "do traffic exchanges work?" is yes, they do! check some out and try for yourself

Who's a sucker?

This is for my mate Chris :-)
A few days ago I sent one of my squeeze pages, it was this one here to my mate Chris.

You see Chris and I were involved in an offline mlm about 10 years ago, it never really went very far (for him anyway) and I certainly didn't build it big enough to get my freedom. Though I must stress I picked up a mountain of info, all of which I'm putting to use here online.

Anyway, Chris and I are still mates, we still have a pint together, we still do stuff and socialise occasionally, dammit we even went away for a couple of weeks on holiday last year with our respective wives and kids. (He has since left his wife, which is sad, but hey, it happens right?)

Anyway, as I was saying, I sent him my squeeze page url by email, and, since we do some business together, he called me up from work to sort out an email account for his company or something... and do you know what he said about my squeeze page? He said "I'm going to show this to my boss, he's a sucker!!!"
Well, he couldn't understand why I fell about laughing, when what he was really saying was "Ian, I can't believe you, you're such a sucker!"

Once I picked myself up off the floor from laughing, I mean I really hurt my side I laughed so much! I said to him "Chris, that's great mate, you do realise that your boss is a sucker and that he's richer than you don't you!"

What Chris failed to notice is that he was doing me a huge favour! getting my squeeze page in front of people, and people more successful than himself. How cool is that :-)

So, Chris, sucker or not, I really don't care what you think, thanks very much for the favour :-)

I feel bad for Chris, in a way, he can't believe whats slap bang in front of his face, and belief is everything right?

Why? because 95% of people don't have a reason strong enough OR they just simply do not have enough belief, after all, if you don't believe something is going to work or you don't have a reason strong enough to act on what you 'think' might work then you're just not going to do it!

You see, I KNOW what I am doing works, I KNOW that I am getting my advice from members of that 5% group of people that are successful. I KNOW I have a reason strong enough (see first post)

So, todays success principle: ACTION IS THE KEY
Action is so important, but action doing the right things is more important... why would someone with a truly vested interest in my success advise me to do anything else? they WOULDN'T would they!

This blogging malarky is good fun right :-) One thing I've noticed is some of the daft stuff I've done over the past couple of weeks. And it's all here, I've written it all in the blog! I question myself as to whether I should remove the references or not... maybe they'll be useful one day

If you're successful in MLM then you know that you have to be able to duplicate yourself and what you do, the faster and easier you are to duplicate, the faster your business grows!

Huh? 31.95% DON'T know what a "Squeeze Page" is?

Recently, James Grandstaff revealed something
that I found quite interesting...

If you've been around the IM (internet marketing) scene for awhile, you've most likely heard the term "squeeze page" before, right?

At least that's what I thought.

Well, James surveyed approx. 500 people on his list who are interested in making money online. Many stated they were interested in affiliate marketing, product creation, MLM, etc...

One of the questions was "Do you know what a
"Squeeze Page" is?"

68.05% answered yes and 31.95% answered NO.

To be honest...

I was shocked that 31.95% said no.

What about you?

In light of this shocking survey data I decided to
write this post today to go over the very basics
of what a squeeze page is and why you should
be using them in your business (if you are not
already.)

And for those of you who already use them, pay
attention. You will probably learn something too.

Here goes...

A squeeze page which is also known as a "lead
capture page" or "name squeeze page" is a simple
web page with one purpose; to get your visitor
to give you their name and email address so you
can follow-up with them. That's it.

One of the best ways to get someone to opt-in
to your squeeze page is by offering something
of high perceived value such as a mini ecourse
or a highly targeted eBook.

For example, let's say you are promoting a multi-
level marketing business opportunity. The products
are great and you are a raving fan.

Most people would just start promoting the website
the company supplies. I say no. This is a perfect
opportunity to implement the use of a squeeze page and offer something of value first.

That way, you collect the leads, you follow-up with
an introduction of yourself and begin building a
long lasting business relationship.

In sales, what we are really selling is "us" first,
then the product.

You always want to provide value first. Once your
prospects warm up to you, then it's time to ask the
right questions to determine if your product or
business opportunity can help solve their needs.

doing some extraordinary things!

Why? well, another success principle is to figure out who to take your advice from... surely, if you want something in life, the shortcut is to find someone who has what you want and copy them, is it not?

That's all very well, but, why on earth would anybody with the kind of lifestyle I want be willing to show me how to do it? That lifestyle, as I pointed out on my first post, is to go live in (or at least have the choice to) North Cyprus and become a Scuba Instructor, I got my PADI Advanced Open Water this summer by the way :-) so I'm definately on the way on that score... However, I will also need a pipeline or residual or whatever you like to call it income. I want this done and dusted before the next Olympics so again I can have the choice of taking my gorgeous wife and children to London to watch them or maybe to Girne Square to watch it on the giant screen!

So, back to the point, why would anybody who has that kind of lifestyle want to show me how to do it? The answer is that the only people with that lifestyle willing to share those 'secrets' are the ones who have a totally vested interest in your success, they have to want for you to succeed in whatever you do in order for them to succeed.

Well, this ordinary bloke is very lucky because Dave, the gentleman who is helping me, already has that lifestyle, it is based on helping others succeed, and, he's showing me how to do it. Don't get me wrong, he is not doing it for me, I am doing the work (yes it does take some work) but I KNOW I am doing the work in the right places.

I am more excited than ever, I still feel like the cat that got the cream, I do not see how I can fail.

Right, so today I have learned a lot more :-)

I was put in touch with Instant MLM Squeeze Pages by Dave! What an amazing plan, here's a way to generate traffic to your primary business as well as promoting the squeeze page system.

It has become apparent to me that squeeze pages are the way forwards, they basically offer something in return for an email address... and I'm loving these automatic email autoresponder systems! They rock :-)

Thanks for your comments Rudi and also thanks for your email, it was very nice of you to take the time to write to me and I agree with what you said.
Have I been avoiding the acronym mlm or the phrase multi level marketing?

Rudi made a very good point in his email to me, and that is to say that any successful mlm organisation is based not only on developing many opportunities to present your business, but also in the relationships that are formed.

I was involved in a 'traditional' mlm business up until 1999, the lessons learned were MANY, a key one was that what you are actually looking for is a team of 'leaders'. Being a leader is a complete subject in itself which I don't really want to go into at this moment in time.
Rudi's point is that If I want to develop my elottery business to something like that which Neil Verlander has, then probably the best way to do that is to find a team of leaders to work with.

I am not what people might descibe as a hermit! I am not pale from spending too much time in front of my computer screen (I'm told I have rather a nice tan actually!) However, there is an old phrase that's used throughout the mlm game:

Sling enough mud against the wall, and some of it will stick!

of course, I have also managed to coin another phrase for my business: Stack The Odds, which implies that you can improve your chances of winning the national lottery , or the euro millions by using the lottery syndicate system.
You might also consider 'stack the odds in your favour' as a success principle, and really that's what I am doing here!

Wow!
Have I been nosey today or what?!

I spoke with Dave as planned about various things... firstly that I have a meeting invite :-)
A meeting to discuss the promotion of e-lottery. I think the date is (hopefully) timed with VWD launching some of the changes they are going to be making to things.
So, the meeting is all about promoting the e-lottery business from the web, not really for everybody, but for people who want to do things from the internet, it's going to be around mid October by the looks of it, and I have booked myself in! I heard that Neil Verlander and some 'others' will be there and hopefully the people that Dave has placed me under in his structure. Mark and Natalie that is, not spoken to them yet, but it will be nice to speak to them, he's a webby something or other in the city and she's working on becoming a teacher! Just like Larina (My wife) Spooky!

So... being nosey, I've been checking out the most successful people in VWD's e-lottery affiliate system, I am measuring success in how many people (businesses or charity or what ever) they have successfully sponsored in the last 28 days! you see vwd make that info available in the affiliate system.. cool!
well, It seems to me that these people have spent sometime putting together some pretty neat pages and email systems, all with the intention of guiding their visitors to their signup pages... OK, so I'm getting it now!
I mean simple stuff like if you were to google some of those phrases you might if you wanted to attract people to your e-lottery affiliate site (if you see my point of view) you'll come up with some interesting links, you guessed it, the phrases I thought of all seemed to link to the most successful e-lottery syndicate affiliates, and it appears to me those people or businesses have put a reasonable amount of effort into developing their pages, especially in terms of being "search engine friendly".
Will the successful vwd people on the internet be at the meeting? Hope so!

At this time I feel like I am in the right place at the right time

Success in Internet Marketing the story so far

Well, the journey continues!
I spoke (well not spoke, emailed) with Dave yesterday, my sponsor in the e-lottery affiliate business... I wrote a long list of things I've been up to and a few questions:

1. I registered stacktheodds.net

2. I set up frames for www.stacktheodds.net along with some noframes content which needs to be optimised

3. I set up squeeze pages

4. I started 2 blogs with google

5. I got spidered by google so google is now aware of the domain

6. I placed a couple of ppc ads on facebook directing 'clickers' to my grab a grand link

7. I got 15 prospects into the email system from the above campaign which worked out to cost me about 20pence per prospect

8. I got a pending membership older than 3 days in the prospect system today

9. I have been studying 2 successful elottery recruiters their websites and their links

10. I intend to do something very similar with my websites as the above, but with some better no frames content. - Am I heading the right way?

11. I notice that both They both use a 'buy your lottery tickets online' affiliateship as well. Are you advocating this? are you a member?

12. Is there any progress on the exchange traffic generation system you mentioned in your email?

13. Was there any traffic generation content or info at the function? If so is it available? or did I cut myself off from that? sorry to sound a little cynical!

14. I have had a lot of fun using the telephone message, but not much success yet :-)

15. My friends think I am completely mad!! but are watching me closely.

So, I thought that was pretty good and that Dave would say "yup a looks good to me" and maybe give me a couple of answers.
Funny how things you don't expect to happen sometimes do happen isn't it!

The email I got back was interesting to say the very least:

So... It seems changes are a foot, I had a look at the picture (once Dave remembered to attach it to the email anyway!) and you know what? I was very pleased with what I saw, I'd post it up here on the blog, but I am not sure I should just yet, I'll have to check!

As you can imagine, I have scheduled a call with Dave for Wednesday this week, I am very much looking forward to it and I'm sure there will be some very useful information for me.

There was a meeting on Sunday for affiliates, I didn't go... it was in Coventry and I had made other plans, I am wondering if I should have gone though, because there were some real successful people speaking, VWD and e-lottery people that is, and obviously the new e-lottery website must have been on the agenda, apparently theres some new DVD's being put out by VWD soon too.

I had also asked a few people, people I wouldn't normally associate with wanting to make extra money, by email if they were open to business ideas, or even internet business ideas, and not one of them said No! This did suprise me a little, but hey ho having spoken to a few business owners over the past few months, times are hard!
So, rather than have a huge conversation with them trying to explain the thing I decided I'd try out another technique:

This was to respond to email with something like: thought you might be and then recommend they call a telephone number (not premium rate lines or anything scam like) but a london based number which had been recorded by Neil Verlander: 020 84 85 84 84

So, it's a 6 minute recorded message that really I suppose sorts out those that are looking for something from those that are not looking for anything, or don't really believe it is possible to be so successful that you can actually develop a pipeline or residual income using the e-lottery system and training.
The call goes on to explain that all you need to do is ask the person who gave you the number for the special website link

Nearly all of those people asked for the link! wow! so it works! I was pretty amazed... so I have been sending info out to those that ask (I am not chasing anybody! if they want to find out more they will ask) The look at the website, plus hearing that there are 56 FA Football Clubs promoting this seem to be generating more conversation, things like:

Are you serious about this?
Is the elottery a scam?
I still want more info... can I call you later?

Which I think is all good, I am also feeling more confident about the business so I don't flush red or anything quite so much when people ask me about it :-)

revealed that my stack the odds web site has made it into google! Not bad I thought, however, google cache, like this: here only shows my noframes content, that's not good right... so I made some changes and adjusted the no frames content to include some of the phrases that we ought to be using!
I wonder how quickly we'll be indexed again so that that new content will be reflected!

I had to use the frames to get my e-lottery website to show as my own domain ( http://www.stacktheodds.net/ ) A 100% frame showing my vwd pages and a 0% frame showing another hidden frame (www.stacktheodds.net/stacktheodds.htm ) which also contains data very similar to my no frames content...
confused? me too :-)

It was also very interesting to note that my two squeeze pages got picked up and indexed by google too only they showed in google as 'omitted results' :

Outlook Express Stationary

I want to customize my outlook express stationary to help me promote my online business!
Could I find the file to edit to help me do so? Of course not!! I had to find it, so here it is, the link to where your stationary is stored (on windows xp anyway!) C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery

I wanted to include a little logo and a link to my www.stacktheodds.net web page and by editing the htm file in there I was able to produce some catchy, personalised email stationary :-)

Spider Web Systems claims to drive leads and business to you utilizing viral marketing and internet marketing techniques, for free!
I thought I'd hook up and see what was being promoted and how the system works...

Does it work? I don't know, there are some big claims being made. I decided to focus on my own business!

I had another call today from another business with trouble trying to send email.
I spent a few minutes on the phone with the 'administrator' at the business and managed to discover that his emails were actually being returned by his smtp server.
A quick check of his internet IP revealed that it was blacklisted! check out http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx and enter an internet IP to see how I found out.
It turns out that this business has a virus on one of their PC's and it was managing to send out emails spam or virus' or both!
Grrr, I'm seeing this more and more!

Nifty :-) It also gives me the chance to write more stuff about e-lottery and get more people to check out how they can join a lottery syndicate and stack the odds in their favour!

woohoo google noticed my blog!

Result! According to www.google.com/webmasters my pages are included in the google index..
There's not really much data and statistics yet, it's basically telling me to come back and check again later.
So why would this be something to be excited about? well, exciting for me anyway! Let me explain, I am under no illusion about my new e-lottery business venture, it is going to take some time and effort to build it to a point that I can basically clear off to North Cyprus with my wife and kids and become the scuba instructor that I want to be.
I have managed to get friends and family along to my affiliate site with very little effort, you know, the emails, asking if they want to join a lottery syndicate and then directing them off to take a look at my affiliate page, but, to be honest, shock horror! not many of them are that interested. Why? I don't know, and frankly, if they don't want to join a syndicate, or start a home or internet based business, that's up to them, no problem and thanks for taking a look. Some have even gone to the trouble of sending me back a very polite email thanking me for thinking of them :-) That's nice and it actually makes me feel good. The last thing I'd want to do is make them feel bad or even bug them to the point that I become alienated. That would be bad and no fun what so ever!
So, what I am saying is that to be indexed by google means that my experiences with my internet business and other general stuff I post here start to become visible to people searching google, that's got to be a good thing right? After all, growing the e-lottery business is all about sharing information, and I know for sure that one of the biggest, and in my humble opinion, best tools out there for finding information is google, it has saved my professional bacon on many occasions!
So, eventually, I will run out of email addresses to send my little invites to, so, what then? slapping dodgy cards in b and q toilets? sticking flyers under car windscreen wipers? knocking on peoples doors? buying email lists so I can be a spammer? NOT ON YOUR NELLY!

I believe a more suitable approach would be to find the people that are looking for chances to play the lottery in a smart way or are even looking for ways to play the lottery for free
That's where google comes in. Maybe, just maybe, someone who is looking and open to opportunity will stumble across my little blog and find me :-) I am much more comfortable with that.
There you go, that's why being noticed by google is exciting! (for me anyway)

a new domain name for my new business

Well, I've done what's been recommended so far in my new e-lottery business!
Got all my details on the affiliate page sorted out, figured out the tools and started showing it to people... how? just by sending an email asking if they want to join a lottery syndicate and then following that up with an email suggesting that they may like to take a look at my e-lottery page and check it out.
My results? out of 24 people emailed, about 30 hits on my affiliate home page, I guess some were me checking it worked :-)
It's quite odd really, only one of those people has come back to me saying "yeah, it all looks OK, but tell me what happens if the syndicate wins 5000 pounds" I was a bit stumped by this to be honest, because it's all there, it's all open and all you have to do is read the facts.
Maybe this chap was a bit like me, skeptical! and yes I was skeptical, I did quite a lot of searching and reading and yes there's people out there that think it's some kind of a pyramid scheme or a scam, that's to be expected I think!
Maybe that's why I haven't heard from the other 23 people yet :-) are they worried by what I may say? Do they think it's a joke or something? or are they just not interested? I don't know, maybe I will never know, but hey, I'll just keep plugging the numbers and see what happens... Reassuringly it's not about selling, I haven't got to phone them up and bludgeon them into setting up an online business or playing an online lottery system, that would be awful and I don't think I could do that.
I've been reading the materials and listening to some of the presentations by the leaders in this business and they all suggest that this system should not be sold! fair enough, I am not into selling, and, I am not into sticking up cards in BandQ toilets asking me to forgive the unusual approach about calling their number and registering to receive info on how to make 5000 a month either! There seems to be so many schemes around, like they say, it's a jungle out there!
I've managed to register a domain name: www.stacktheodds.net and I've also managed to set up a forwarding so that it sends the browser over to my e-lottery page, hey, check me out looking professional :-)
I also managed to set up some of these 'squeeze' pages, they're supposed to have people sign up to receive further information about playing lotto games, there's one here and here I am guessing these get used as 'landing pages' not sure yet, I'll have to figure those out!
Oh, and I found out there's 36 football league clubs promoting this e-lottery! I mean FA Premiership, championship clubs, even my beloved colchester united are at it! so how come they didn't tell me!!! anyway, be back soon!

domain transfer issues

During the course of my day I am trying to attract web hosting business. Sometimes it means that we have to transfer a 'uk' domain in to our Nominet 'tag'. A Tag is the name or nickname that your new 'registrar' gives you when you want to get the domain moved from one tag holder/registrar to another...

It astonishes me that so few people realise that in doing this it's actually possible to avoid having to deal with the existing registrar/tag holder at all. Quite a revelation when you realise that the existing holder doesn't attach quite the same urgency to the situation as you or even your clients do!

So maybe you know me, maybe you don't, if not Hi! how you doing?
So what does one write on one's first blog post? a bit about me perhaps?
I'm Ian, married to Larina, we have 3 kiddo's.. Zach 13 Asher 8 and Saffron 3. We all live together :-) in Colchester in a nice little area known as St Johns...

We love North Cyprus and travel there as often as possible, which is not as much as I'd like!! In fact I have a goal with my wife and kids of moving over there in the next few years.. I mean I'd like to watch the 2012 Olympics fom there.. seriously! Why? well I love the way of life there, I love the climate, the people, I could go on and on and on

I have been in business with Luke, my esteemed business partner for about 8 years now. We have a great little web hosting and connectivity business over at http://www.sys3.com/ It's great and I love my work, it appeals to my techy mind... I really enjoy solving those niggly little IT problems and get loads of satisfaction doing so.

So why write a blog? what is it that drives someone to post their stuff up on the net? there must be some motivation right? well, for me there is. I want to document my experiences and ventures as I make my way through life. So here's my first post and an experience today! I made my first blog post :-) yay!

Secondly, I have embarked on a new venture, something I believe will help me and my family reach our goals of moving to North Cyprus. You see there's only one little thing that is stopping us from going now, you guessed it! Income, I need a secure income!

I discovered this venture a couple of weeks ago and decided what the heck! I'll give it a go
Here I've been beavering away on a daily basis making the internet work for people, helping people get their websites live for their new ventures and what have I done? Not very much really, on that front anyway. So I decided to become an e-lottery affiliate! What is e-lottery I hear you say! well i think it's a piece of genious! Here's a way of operating a business online with as much or little effort as you like... It stunned me, I felt like and do still feel like the cat that got the cream, I mean I can barely contain myself :-) and, to be honest, it's great to feel that way again.

I wanted a business I could operate pretty much entirely online, I wanted to be able to operate it alongside what I already do and I wanted it to be legal, ethical and credible. It ticks all those boxes.

Today I discovered some of the tools available to help me promote the business, I tell you what it just keeps getting better, everything I need to set up and promote a business that gives me everything I've been looking for at my fingertips.
